We are currently in a very fluid time. It seems as if one day everything is fine and the next day the sky is falling. The Bible says 2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. We know God is in control but its easy to let fear and anxiety take over. Rivers Church is more than a place it is a family. We may have to change some methods to adapt to the growing spread of the Corona virus but rest assured our mission is the same. We will continue to be a river of Gods love. Please check our Facebook page or text the word ( rivers ) to 97000 to receive text updates on service times and location. Please pray for our world and ask God how you can be used by him to show His love to those who need it.

We believe the top competitor for our devotion to Jesus is money (Matthew 6:24). Giving allows us to demonstrate that He is more important to us than material things. We believe you can’t outgive God, so when you’re trusting Him with your tithes and offerings we know that He will bless the rest (Proverbs 3:9-10 and Malachi 3:10-12). We think Christians should be the most generous people (2 Corinthians 9:6) on earth to support worthy causes, and there is no organization with more potential to change the world than the local church (Ephesians 3:10)!
We've assembled the finest team possible to help disciple and spread the Gospel.
Chris founded Rivers Church in 2008 as a plant out of Granbury Baptist Church.
Chris and his wife Kelly where married in 1993. They both attended Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX. Chris has served both bi-vocational and vocational ministry. Chris worked in the Abilene Independent School District as well as a Head Start teacher and school administrator in the North Texas area. With over 20 years in ministry, Chris has worked at Trinity Baptist in Abilene, TX; Calvary Baptist in Taylorville, IL and Granbury Baptist in Granbury, TX. Chris and Kelly Kitts have 2 daughters, Kelci and Kadi.
Josiah and Laura Thompson helped plant the church in 2008.
Over the years the roles and responsibilities of Josiah and his wife Laura have grown. Josiah serves as our worship Pastor where he leads our music and worship band. Josiah is also in charge of our men’s discipleship. Laura leads Rivers Kid's Ministry. They have three children; two daughters Kensley and Olivia and a son in the middle, Braylyn.
Justin Serves as our Student Pastor.
He and his wife, Katie, are graduates of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO. Justin also leads our men’s ministry while Katie leads the women’s ministry. They have 2 children Marlee and Finn. The Burtons have been with us from the beginning; in fact, Chris was Katie’s youth pastor way back in the year 2000.
